Speedcube Battle: Race Real Speedcubers on WCA Scrambles

Go head-to-head on the exact same WCA scramble and let the server time both solves.

Free · No signup · WCA scrambles · Plays on your phone

A speedcube battle only counts if the scramble is fair, and here it is. Both cubers get the identical WCA random-state scramble, generated by cubing.js randomScrambleForEvent('333') — the same generator csTimer uses. No hand-scrambles, no biased states, no advantage to whoever loaded first. You and your opponent stare down the same cube, get the same synced 3-2-1 countdown, and race. This is a real 3x3 you turn yourself, not a solver or an auto-simulator watching an algorithm run.

The clock is not on the honor system. The server times both solves and calls the winner, so a battle is settled by delivered time, not by who claims what. Queue into a random opponent to meet another speedcuber cold, or send a 6-character code to line up a grudge match against someone whose PB you already know. If the queue is empty, a practice bot keeps you warm. Win and you get a shareable result card with the times — proof, not a screenshot of your own timer.

This is 3x3 speed, stripped to what a competitive cuber actually wants: a legit scramble, a fair start, and a real opponent. It runs in the browser on your phone (drag to twist) or desktop (keyboard turns) with no signup, no app, and no download between you and the next solve. There's no ELO ladder or public leaderboard yet — the battle is the point, one race at a time, rematch in a tap.

How it works

  1. Pick your opponent
Queue for a random speedcuber, or share a 6-character code (or link) to challenge someone specific. No queue? Warm up against the practice bot.
  2. Race the same scramble
Both cubers load the identical WCA random-state scramble and a synced 3-2-1 countdown, then solve the real 3x3 as fast as you can.
  3. Let the server call it
The server times both solves and decides the winner — no self-reporting. Grab the shareable result card and hit rematch in one tap.

Questions

Are the scrambles WCA-legal random-state scrambles?

Yes. Every scramble is a WCA random-state scramble generated with cubing.js randomScrambleForEvent('333') — the same generator the standard speedcubing timer csTimer uses. Both cubers in a battle race the exact same scramble, so the matchup is fair.

Is the winner decided by the server or by self-reported times?

The server times both solves and decides the winner. Nobody types in their own time — the head-to-head is settled by the delivered solve time, so you can't game it by claiming a faster result.

Is this a real cube or a solver?

It's a real interactive 3D Rubik's Cube you solve yourself. It's not a solver, tutorial, or auto-simulator. You turn the cube on your phone by dragging faces or on desktop with keyboard turns.

Do I need an account or an app to have a speedcube battle?

No. It's free with no signup, no app, and no download. It runs in your browser on phone or desktop. Queue a random opponent, share a 6-character code to battle a friend, or race the practice bot when the queue is empty.
